In 1994, the Original Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club of Fort Myers was formed.
Jerry Brough, from Neville Island and Don Hazen, from Elwood City contacted a local
tavern to see if they would open it to Steeler fans. From that day the fan club
has grown to 330 strong. Our most esteemed members are HOF linebacker Jack Ham and
Ben Roethlisberger’s grandparents, Fran and Frank Foust. The fan club has members
from as far away as England. The club was honored to have Derek and Sue Paine
from England join us to watch the Super Bowl in 1996 against Dallas. They returned
to the US to watch the 2006 great Super Bowl.
Membership dues have always been only $5 per year. This entitles each member to a chance
of winning one of four Steeler memorabilia at each regular season,
playoff and Super Bowl game. The club has 10 staff members. The only officer is
Cindy Miller, the treasurer. She has served since the beginning. Each staff
member has a job to do such as purchasing Steeler items to sell, maintaining membership records
and so on. The staff has not had a need for named officers
as each and every one cooperates to make it all happen.
The staff members are:
Jerry and Jan Brough (Neville Island and Coraopolis)
Cindy Miller (Elwood City)
Gordon Lytle (West Newton, Erie/North East))
Sarah Kersten (Zelienopele)
